Salvation Army...

Other than occassionally seeing them at supermarket doors during holiday seasons... ring bells and asking for donations... or remembering to give them old cloths and stuffs..., it was quite an eye opening experience during Saturday when I saw one of their 'events'. Wife was hired to play in the orchestra for them... the event wasn't really public but we managed to get a ticket for me anyway.

Anyway, to see a bunch of them dressed up in army uniform is kinda scary, but they've been around for 140years! Their mission statement is cool though. Of course they want people saved, not only that, they are committed to grow those saved saints so that they can do more of God's work. Of course they also know that before they can save anyone, people's basic needs have to be met. So I was pretty moved by some of the video testimonies during the event...

However, the event itself is kinda lame... wife said there was never any sound checks at all during rehearsals or before the actual show. It showed. When people began to worships, we simply cannot hear any of the music nor can people figure our who's actually leading the worship! ;) Plus the computer crashed in the middle of the event... So I just prayed for them... and I pray that they can do better in the future too instead of wasting their money like that! ;) I've been to many chinese christian events, surely none of the chinese ministries have as much money as the Salvation Army, and in comparison, I think the chinese ministries are doing pretty well! ;) Anyway, don't mean to compare, since we're all God's army, but it's obvious that we need to get MORE organized!!!

Of course we're still thankful of the gig God and Salvation Army have given to us! We'll be keeping them in our prayers. We're also thankful that so far, I haven't made any screw ups that badly... and wife has been able to keep her mood in control..., but too bad our kitty is still kinda in a bad mood though... sure hope he'll start to feel better soon.

Today's reading of beginning part of Lev 26 had also been encouraging... especially during the times of poor economy. Gas prices is really going up at a crazy rate. This is certainly a time when we need God more and more as Pastor Jim said. May we all have a good relationship with our Father in Heaven.
